4 Star Review: Bishop by Sawyer Bennett

Bishop (Arizona Vengeance, #1)Bishop by Sawyer Bennett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A new hockey series and a new team of players for sports romance fans to delight in.

I’m not a fan of book that starts with a bang, literally, and such stories can cause me to quickly lose interest. Add to that a new series with unknown characters and it can take me some time to settle in to a story, and that’s exactly what happened with Bishop. I was expecting the usual light hearted banter and hockey themed romance but Bishop is more like Christian Grey with a puck. He is sexually dominant and knows what he wants from his life on and off the ice. This take no prisoners attitude was slightly off putting at the start until I got to know Bishop and Brooke. Slowly but surely these two characters got under my skin - and each other’s - as their crazy plan for the benefit of Brooke’s father becomes a reality as Bishop and Brooke start to develop feelings for one another other as their relationship walls start to crumble.

This is such an amazing series and one which leaves you pining for more from the characters. Each and every character that we’ve met has swept me off my feet and have rewarded me with a fond and lasting memory.

Ares and Arianna’s story was definitely a turbulent and emotional one. Both characters made me frustrated a times, especially Ares, and I really just wanted to bang their heads together but then hug them - if you read the story you’ll see why!

A Change Of Pace (Northern Lights, #3)A Change Of Pace by Freya Barker
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a really enjoyable story!

As always with Freya Barker, you can rely on her storytelling ability to sell you an amazing story and this was another hit with me.

I wasn't sure about a man named Newt but his actions soon won me over. With a daughter struggling after the loss of her mother and self-harming herself as a result, Newt and Millie pack up their belongings and head to the country for a more relaxed lifestyle. It's not long before Newt notices that Millie is continuing to struggle but fortunately Freddy has just what Millie needs: compassion and enough pets to start a small petting farm! Little by little Millie starts to open up but when her school friend also starts having emotional problems, Millie steps in and offers her support and together they form an unlikely friendship.

Her Invisible Soldier: A Military Romance with a TwistHer Invisible Soldier: A Military Romance with a Twist by Grace Risata
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was such a great story and definitely one that I will read again. Grace's storytelling gets better and better with each book and I didn't think anyone could rival my affections for her mafia men but Alyce and Dixon stole my heart.

I loved the dynamic between both of the characters, one fiercely independent and determined, albeit a little accident prone (Alyce) and the other (Dixon) the shell of a man he once was due to PTSD. Together you have the perfect partnership though and Alyce supports Dixon and helps him to face his demons.

There is a mixed bag of side characters also included in the book who add a little extra drama to complement the story.

I really struggled to put this book down - highly recommended.

4 Star Review: Rock Legend by Tara Leigh

Rock Legend (Nothing But Trouble, #2)Rock Legend by Tara Leigh
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Another enjoyable story from the Nothing but Trouble stable of rock stars and another reason why the band carries the name it does!

This time, it’s Landon Cox’s story waiting to be told. Landon, the effervescent drummer with Nothing but Trouble, is all about the partying and rock star lifestyle and believes in taking his excesses to an impossible height. The women he takes to his bed are there for one reason only and relationships are clearly not an option. That is until he sees the girl who stole his heart many years before he became a rock God.

Unbeknownst to Landon, Piper Hastings works for Travis Taggert the band’s agent. Keeping herself firmly away from Landon’s presence, Piper has successfully avoided a confrontation with him, that is until Delaney, lead singer Shane’s girlfriend drags her to one of the Nothing But Trouble gigs. With emotions running high, Piper flees backstage and into what she assumes is a safe area but unfortunately for her, she finds herself in Landon’s room.

5 Star Review: The Cottage on Sunshine Beach by Holly Martin

Holly’s best book to date!!!

Holly Martin really knows how to write stories that sweep you away with their feelgood factor. I never want to leave the villages that she creates and I also manage to learn something new with each book, this time it was about jewellery making!

I couldn't wait to get my hands on Jamie and Melody's story. All of the characters in this village are delightful but for some reason, Jamie and Melody's shy and reserved personalities just made their story all the more memorable. Melody's clumsiness was so sweet but also heartbreaking as was Jamie's insecurities.
