Blood Heir by Ilona Andrews
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Blood Heir

100% pure magic!!!

Julie has always fascinated me and her relationship with Derek is one to savour. However, in this story, Julie and Derek are just getting to know each other all over again, much to my delight ❤️

I was so pleased to see one of my favourite characters brought back, you’ll know who when you read the book.

This was one of those very rare books that had me gasping at the word “epilogue”. I can never get enough of this world and it physically pains me when a story ends.

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 to the authors once again.

Amour, Amour/The Failed Audition

Tuesday 2 February 2021 No comments

(Aerial Ethereal/Circle is Family #1)

Listening time 13 hours 21 minutes
Love is a circus

"Every day,” he says lowly, “I hold a person’s life in my hands. The circus is based one-hundred percent off trust. I give it all to someone, and they give it all to me.”

The best aerial technique won’t land 21-year-old Thora James her dream role in Amour—a sexy new acrobatic show on the Vegas strip. Thora knows she’s out of her element the second she meets Amour’s leading performer. Confident, charming and devilishly captivating, 26-year-old Nikolai Kotova lives up to his nickname as the “God of Russia.”

When Thora unknowingly walks into the crosshairs of Nikolai’s after-show, her audition process begins way too soon. Unprofessional. That’s what Nik calls their “non-existent” relationship. It’s not like Thora can avoid him. For one, they may be partners in the future--acrobatic partners, that is. But getting closer to Nik means diving deeper into sin city and into his dizzying world.

Thora wants to perform with him, but when someone like Nikolai attracts the spotlight wherever he goes—Thora fears that she’s destined to be just background to his spellbinding show.

This sexy and exhilarating New Adult Romance can best be described as Cirque du Soleil meets the steamy, athletic romance of Center Stage.

*standalone & no love triangles—recommended for readers 18+ for mature content*

I have no idea why I waited so long to read this story, possibly in deference to the famous ones, but this book is as equally as strong - but what would you expect from the authors.

I loved the chemistry between Thora and Nikolai.
I loved Thora's determination to succeed.
And I loved the rest of the Kotova family.

I can't wait to read on.  Luka's story is next!

“This was unintentional.”
It became something more without noticing. Without realizing. “Am I a mistake—”
“No, myshka. You’re just the unexpected, beautiful thing in my life.”

“Trust me.”
“I don’t even know you,” I say softly, adrenaline pulsating through my veins. He has led me to the precipice of a cliff, pushed me off, and now he’s clasping my wrist. He can let go at any moment, and I will fall.

“Every day,” he says lowly, “I hold a person’s life in my hands. The circus is based one-hundred percent off trust. I give it all to someone, and they give it all to me. I’m asking you, right now, to trust me.”

The Madison Kate Series by Tate James

Saturday 30 January 2021 No comments

Madison Kate is a new adult/college age dark romance with enemies to lovers/hate to love  themes. This is a reverse harem series, meaning the leading lady has several love interests and she doesn't have to choose between them for her happily ever after.

Reading Order:

  • Hate (Madison Kate #1)

“Madison Kate Danvers was murdered tonight.”

Those words changed my life, and not for the better.
They were wrong, of course. I wasn’t dead. But I was set up.

After being charged with a string of offences--and made an example of by my political minded father--I’m eventually released back into Shadow Grove with one thing on my mind.

    Hate.

Someone is going to pay for derailing my carefully laid out future. Someone is going to catch the full force of my hate. How very convenient that someone just moved into the bedroom down the hall from me.

Archer D’Ath and his boys messed with the wrong chick and they’re about to learn just how cold Madison Kate’s hate can run.

  • Liar (Madison Kate #2)

    “Liar, liar, pants on fire.”

The words scrawled on the back of my newest stalker mail makes my blood run cold. I have no idea if it's the lie I know, or one that I don't.

Since arriving back into Shadow Grove, I've been stalked, tormented, chased and almost killed. I've been lied to, repeatedly, by people I was growing to trust.

    Liar.

That word haunts me. Someone knows more about my life than I do. Someone is taunting me with answers and teasing me with secrets. Am I desperate enough to fall for more deception?

Archer and his boys made a huge mistake when they lied to me. They thought they could play me but they're about to learn that they've met their match. No one stabs Madison Kate and gets away with it.

  • Fake (Madison Kate #3)

    “You’ll always be mine.”

The latest taunt from my stalker reminded me I was nothing more than a possession to my father, to the Reapers, to Archer D’Ath. Even to Kody and Steele. Princess Danvers—the prize.

    His wife.

    Archer D’Ath’s wife.

I hate them. They lied to me. Over and over again. I knew they were lying, and I hate myself for letting it happen. For believing in the fake relationships I want so desperately to be real.

    Fake.

It’s all fucking fake. My stalker won’t let me go. None of them will. Archer and his boys think they control me. My stalker wants to possess me. I’m not an idiot, I know my newest allies are using me too.

    That’s fine.

I’ll use all of them. I’ll use them to take back what’s mine.

My life. My freedom. My name.

No one owns Madison Kate Danvers.

  • Kate (Madison Kate #4)

    “I never miss.”

    Riot Night changed my life.

Coming back to Shadow Grove turned it on its head.

I’ve been hunted, stabbed, stalked, tormented, and used. Hate fueled me, lies tore me apart, and in the end everything I thought I knew turned out to be fake.

Except… Riot Night also brought Archer, Kody, and Steele back into my life. No matter how much I’ve fought it, hated it, been lied to or discovered the deceptions—I want them in my life.

    No one owns me.

No one is taking them away.

This is my life, dammit, and these guys are mine to keep.

If a war is what it takes, then a war is what they'll get.

Let's Talk About.... Siobhan Davis

Thursday 28 January 2021 No comments

I love finding new-to-me authors and Siobhan Davis is one such author and boy what an author she is.  Ok, so I  tend to only read books via Kindle Unlimited now and I'm usually on the lookout for high school bully romance books, especially if they have a side of reverse harem and that's how I came across Siobhan Davis and the The Sainthood - The Boys of Lowell HighThis was quickly followed up by Rydeville Elite and The Kennedy Boys.

So, I probably haven't read these books in the recommended order, but I read and read and wanted more, and more.  Siobhan's writing is wonderfully captivating and she draws you into her stories with ease.

The author's Irish roots feature heavily in some of her stories, especially Kennedy Brothers, which has the heroine hailing from Ireland.  Kyler is dark, brooding and mysterious but boy does he love hard. Faye is a troubled girl from Ireland whose parents have recently died. The sparks when these two meet for the first time is off the charts but as cousins, what chance do they have at finding their HEA.

By comparison, Rydeville Elite is a darker story and despite the odd Kennedy brother mention, is clearly a series in its own right.  It has dramatic twists and turns which takes the bully element to a whole new level.  The heroine on this occasion isn't your typical school kid though and instead is a pawn in a dangerous game ran by her father and his associates.

The Sainthood – Boys of Lowell High was my crack though.  This is a dark high school reverse harem romance series with enemies-to-lovers/bullying themes. This series was a 5 Star read all the way.  Although this is not a true RH story, as the heroine definitely feels stronger for one love interest, there is no doubting the punch this story packs.

A New Kate Daniels World Book

Tuesday 26 January 2021 No comments

If you haven't read any of the Kate Daniels' World books before then you are really missing out.  Even if urban fantasy, paranormal, vampire, shifter, magic romance books aren't your thing, this series has so much more to offer readers.

It's unusual for a series to go from strength to strength but the Kate Daniels' series is the exception to the rule. The books are a perfect blend of old character favourites and new and wonderful creatures in an ongoing storyline.  Kate Daniels is the best heroine you'll ever read about!  The writing is wonderfully accurate and passionately portrays the story without any deviation from the first instalment and remains true to itself despite so many books having been written.

I want this series to continue for forever but I also want it to spin off in so many directions. I have been crying out for more about Julie and low and behold, the authors have answered my prayers and have written Blood Heir, Julie's story.

These books demonstrate creativity to the extreme, a sick sense of humour and a wickedly captivating storyline.  Be warned though, they are seriously addictive!

From Ilona Andrews, an all-new novel set in the Kate Daniels World and featuring Julie Lennart-Olsen, Kate and Curran's ward.

Atlanta was always a dangerous city. Now, as waves of magic and technology compete for supremacy, it’s a place caught in a slow apocalypse, where monsters spawn among the crumbling skyscrapers and supernatural factions struggle for power and survival.

Eight years ago, Julie Lennart left Atlanta to find out who she was. Now she’s back with a new face, a new magic, and a new name—Aurelia Ryder—drawn by the urgent need to protect the family she left behind. An ancient power is stalking her adopted mother, Kate Daniels, an enemy unlike any other, and a string of horrifying murders is its opening gambit.

If Aurelia’s true identity is discovered, those closest to her will die. So her plan is simple: get in, solve the murders, prevent the prophecy from being fulfilled, and get out without being recognized. She expected danger, but she never anticipated that the only man she'd ever loved could threaten everything.

One small misstep could lead to disaster. But for Aurelia, facing disaster is easy; it’s relationships that are hard.
