The Consequence of Loving Colton (Consequence, #1)The Consequence of Loving Colton by Rachel Van Dyken
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is one seriously funny read. I downloaded it expecting a nice contemporary romance but I wasn't expecting the high level of humour and entertaining cast. From page one this book had me in stitches. I laughed until my sides hurt and out loud at times which was a little embarrassing when I was in public.

From the start I could tell this was going to be a fast paced and funny story. Milo and her brother Jason and his best friend Colton have grown up together and have remained firm friends but there's only one problem; Milo has been secretly in love with Colton her whole life but does he feel the same?

Milo is a tom-boy and having grown up with her brother and Colton, life is not without its adventures and incidents. Having returned home for her brother's wedding it is clear that the years have not changed their accident prone friendship as the three quickly start working their way through incident after incident and disaster after disaster. Even the wedding doesn't go to plan and by the time of the ceremony, there are more than a few bruises present.

Having started a lie, Milo soon realises that things are quickly going to escalate as she foolishly admits that her best friend, Max, is her boyfriend and he is soon invited to the wedding. Max is the most quirky friend you could ever wish for but also fiercely loyal to Milo in his own special way. He knows that she and Colton love each other but in an attempt to force them to admit to their emotions he causes even more mayhem.

Additional humour is provided by the awesome Grandma and her "love" interest Max's gorgeous brother Reid. The humour in this part of the story is so perfectly mind blowing that it really did nearly put me in hospital who a painful case of split sides! Poor Reid really didn't know just what he'd let himself in for by attending the wedding.

The story progresses with hope and humour until its conclusion but will Colton and Milo get their HEA or will Max derail their chances, accidentally, of course!!!!

I can't wait for the next instalment.

5 Star Review: Grind (Cal and Macy's Story #2) by Sawyer Bennett

Grind (Legal Affairs, #2)Grind by Sawyer Bennett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am loving this series so much. Cal and Macy are explosive in and out of bed but most of all, we're starting to see the ice queen melt and beneath her hard outer shell is a tender vulnerability. Will Cal be able to save Macy from herself and to let her see how life can be lived; with the love of a good man?

The story continues after the cruel conclusion to Clash as the the office scene recommences. Will Call be able to resist Macy charms and do his job without falling for her seduction techniques? Macy is determined to break her one time only rule with Cal who has awakened something in her and it's something that needs feeding again and again, but will she be able to just use Cal for sex without falling for him and will he be able to enjoy time with her without being hurt by her past?

Review: Sunshine & Whiskey

Sunshine & Whiskey Sunshine & Whiskey by R.L. Griffin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I do like it when authors change it up and write something a little different and that's exactly what Sunshine & Whiskey is for RL Griffin. From the brilliance of Razorblade Kisses she has returned with a lighthearted read which is both witty and entertaining.

After witnessing her boyfriend in a compromising position, Megan knows that she needs saving from herself and leaving town couldn't have happened at a better time. Leaving Chad, her family and her job behind, Megan heads out for a road trip of a lifetime with her BFF Laura and doesn't look back. Plotting and planning their journey to the places they have always wanted to visit, they set off with the aim of enjoying being young, free and single. Some of the scenes told throughout the story will make you laugh out loud but some will also bring a tear to yours eyes.

This was a great read which was sweet, funny and riveting. I struggled to get into it initially but once it grabbed me it wouldn't let go. I did find some of the comical scenes a bit irrelevant and didn’t really fit into the story, other than for an added bit of humour, but they didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the story. I loved that Megan found her HEA but it wasn't with the person I thought she may end up with.

Wow, I'm thinking Cal might just be my new BBF, who'd have thought we'd have our hands full with this quiet, unassuming man but damn, Cal is a little kinky!!!! What a pairing he and Macy make, from verbal fireworks to explosive sex, I need more from these two ASAP!!!!

4 Star Review: Shaken, Not Stirred (Last Call, #5) by Sawyer Bennett

Shaken, Not Stirred (Last Call, #5)Shaken, Not Stirred by Sawyer Bennett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

It's official, Casey Markham has been tamed and it's by none other by Tenn Jennings. This is not a straightforward story though and as you expect with Casey she fights her emotions all of the way.

Tenn is a biker, a cowboy and an ex-marine, yeah right Sawyer Bennett hit us with the full monty on this one! So how is Casey expected to resist his charms? Easy, at first, he's just not the type of man she normally goes for but her heart... that tells a different story as she battles her emotions to decide if she really can fall in love with this man.

All of the usual gang make a reappearance in this book including Nix and Emily. I love the way Brody and Hunter go all big brotherly on Tenn and attempt to make sure he is not going to hurt their sister. Having had her fair share of heartbreak thanks to her first boyfriend, Casey is fiercely protecting her herself and is frightened to allow any man inside the walls of her heart but bit by bit Tenn breaks down her defences and makes her realise that it is ok to love and be loved.

Although I loved this story, I found it slightly unbalanced between the inner monologue/dialogue and I found myself speedreading parts of the story. I think I was spoiled with Gavin, that's it... I'll blame Gavin!!! That said, it was an enjoyable read and a nice conclusion to the storyline. Outer Banks will be missed that's for sure but is there a story coming for Woolf, hmmm now he's an interesting character to dream about.
