Review: Unexpected Protector

Unexpected Protector Unexpected Protector by Sloan Johnson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Having loved the premise of Isthmus Alliance and also Unexpected Angel, this was one eagerly anticipated book. Carrying on from Dylan and Tasha’s story, this book picks up where Unexpected Angel ended with Holly in hospital fighting for her life.

Recovering from her ordeal, Holly finds herself being supported by Tommy Reed, Dylan’s friend and the off duty police officer who helped to rescue her and Tasha. Unexpectedly drawn to Holly, Tommy finds himself helping her to turn her life around and he shows Holly that life is worth fighting for.

I really enjoyed this book but I must admit I hated the ending. Cliff-hangers are all good and well but only if the next book is in sight otherwise they are just an unnecessary cruelty for readers!

As much as I love these books something is still not gelling. The characters are magical but I felt that the storyline needed more time to evolve to ensure the book didn’t leave any questions unanswered. The dynamic between Jeff, Holly’s doctor, Mary, Holly’s attorney and Zeke left me confused and I hope this becomes clear in the next book. That said, I can’t wait for the next instalment.
