Corrupt Savior (Wages of Sin #2)Corrupt Savior by Tara Leigh
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I really hate to give a semi-negative review but I had a real love/hate with this instalment. I loved the connection between Damon and Aislinn and all the twists and turns that the story had but I just couldn’t connect with it for some reason and I'm at a loss to understand why.

I do struggle with duologies in general and that may be part of the reason for my frustration. The first book always seems to blow me away and by the time the next instalment is released, even if it’s just a few short weeks later, I struggle to find magic once again and the story fails to reignite my interest. Maybe if this had been a single book I would have felt differently, who knows!

I really enjoyed Cruel Sanctuary and Damon and Aislinn’s story up until her kidnapping but sadly, Corrupt Savior just didn’t pull me in despite the intrigue and excitement. I appreciate I’m in the minority but I just couldn’t re-engage with the story or the characters no matter how hard I tried. Once again, the story was still a little too wordy and I ended up skipping over paragraphs in an attempt to get back to the nitty-gritty of the storyline.

I love Tara Leigh’s books and her writing in general, and this review is probably more to do with my current reading state of mind than her literary skills but whilst I enjoyed how the story ended and I am glad that I read both parts of the duology, it just didn’t wholly win me over.
