5 Star Review: Grind (Cal and Macy's Story #2) by Sawyer Bennett

Grind (Legal Affairs, #2)Grind by Sawyer Bennett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am loving this series so much. Cal and Macy are explosive in and out of bed but most of all, we're starting to see the ice queen melt and beneath her hard outer shell is a tender vulnerability. Will Cal be able to save Macy from herself and to let her see how life can be lived; with the love of a good man?

The story continues after the cruel conclusion to Clash as the the office scene recommences. Will Call be able to resist Macy charms and do his job without falling for her seduction techniques? Macy is determined to break her one time only rule with Cal who has awakened something in her and it's something that needs feeding again and again, but will she be able to just use Cal for sex without falling for him and will he be able to enjoy time with her without being hurt by her past?

The story is developing nicely but there are still a lot of unanswered questions about Macy but by the end of this book you can see that we're clearly heading toward finding out why she is the way she is. I love the way Cal slowly breaks down her defences and makes her open up to who she really is.

“You can tell me anything, Macy. I’m your friend. You will always be safe in telling me, but more importantly… you will never be judged by this man.” He’s ripped me open. I’m flayed. My eyes are clear, and I’m scared to death.

I was completely blown away by a scene introduced by Sawyer Bennett in this book and it takes this story firmly towards erotica. It was tastefully handled though and not an unnecessary addition as Macy and Cal try to find a way to understand who they are and what they mean to each other.

Yet again this story ends on a cliffie but as its a serial it really shouldn't come as a surprise. It sets us up nicely for the series conclusion and I can't wait to find out what demons Macy has hiding in her closet and what part Luke, her Uncle, has to play in determining who she is today.

I’m always blown away by Sawyer Bennett’s books. She writes wonderful stories which always portray a depth which makes the book even more rewarding. Nothing happens just for the sake of it as you twist and turn your way through her stories, and the workings of her mind, all the while having the ride of your life!
