My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I've finally managed to find time to get back to the Eagle Elite series and wow, I am so glad that I did. This series is getting better and better.

I love any books about gangsters or the Mafia and this is series no exception. It has so many twists and turns and unfolding stories that I am left turning the pages of my ereader at warp speed just to get to them.

The group of Nixon, Trace, Mo, Tex, Mil and Chace are coming to terms with the loss of Phoenix and the return to life of Nixon. Trace is beyond angry with Nixon for breaking her heart and turning her towards Chase but time has moved on and so has the next stage of the families' plot towards ending the dangers they currently face.

One such danger comes from the self proclaimed Godfather himself, Vito Campisi, and after Mil reveals the horrors she experienced at the hands of her father and nearly at the hands of The Campo, the group decide it's time to bring down Vito before he can kill Mil.

After Mil marries Chace, the two soon realise that the connection they felt for each other at 14 is still strong but can they trust each other and accept the feelings they have for one another as genuine? Chace is a dream of a character and part of me wanted him to end up with Trace but Mil is a much better match for him and they compliment each other perfectly. Initially I thought this book was going to primarily focus on Chace and Mil and whilst it does have a focus on them it was nice to be able to enjoy all of he other characters again. From Trace's innocence and determination to protect her new family to Tex's humour albeit in the face of his own painful past, I love each and everyone of these characters.

I have to say though that it was Phoenix's letter to Mil towards end of the story that will stay with me though, I had tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat and now I miss him even more, despite his wrongdoings.

I can't wait to read Elicit and Enforce... I just need to find some time to enjoy them!!!
