Boarded by Love (Bellevue Bullies, #1)Boarded by Love by Toni Aleo
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

If only true love was the sparkle in the glimpse of an eye, the wisp of air gasped upon the first sight of beauty or the touch of silk against the coarseness of lust then life would be but a magical experience carried in the air. Boarded By Love tells such a story; one of instant lust, love and regret against the backdrop of hockey and burlesque dancing.

Jude is a player; both of hockey and with the opposite sex. Girls throw themselves at him but one night of sex is all that he promises. A god of the rink and amongst men, Jude is perfection in all but trust. His heart is his alone to protect and one that he guards, fiercly.

Claire has a past that haunts her future but instead of letting it pull her down she uses it to fight for what she wants most out of life; to be a choreographer. Claire isn't ashamed of her past but protects her secret and tells no-one other than her aunt and uncle: Reece and Philip, that is until she comes face to face with Jude.

For once in his life, Jude has to chase a girl but not just any girl; a beautiful person both inside and out - Claire Anderson. Swept away by their immediate attraction, Jude is relentless in his pursuit of Claire but doesn't have to fight for long. One kiss - a sudden and unexpected kiss - is all that it takes for Claire and Jude to become one, bound together inexplicably.

"I knew you were a game changer, Claire Anderson." I grin as I look over at him, meeting his lazy gaze. "And I knew you were trouble."

Their story is one of hope and happiness but one which is overshadowed by secrets. As they continue down the path of love and towards a perfect future, all of their dreams are about to crumble in the blink of an eye. Secrets witnessed by Claire are brutal but so are the secrets revealed. Will their love for each other be enough to weather the storm which is fast approaching or will Jude's need to trust cause everything to come to an abrupt halt.

"As long as there are stars in the sky, I am yours. Forever and always." ~Jude

I don't know how I haven't come across Toni Aleo's books before, they are beautifully written and thoughtfully presented. The Assassins series is now at the forefront of my TBR; I urgently need to read more about these amazing characters.

This is the first book in a spin-off from the Assassins series and the start of what is going to be a memorable collection of hockey based stories.
